PSXIII-B-11 Identification of Haplotypes Associated with Fetal Loss in Dairy Cattle
نویسندگان
چکیده
Abstract Fetal loss occurs in 4 to 13% of dairy cattle worldwide with a subsequent $487 $1900 economic per pregnancy. Previous studies have identified SNPs associated fetal loss, but few investigated haplotypes (DNA that segregates offspring together) loss. The objective this study was identify Holstein heifers and cows conceived the first insemination. This consisted 529 (470 maintained pregnancies term while 59 experienced loss) 517 (490 28 suffered loss). Cattle (cases) were genotyped using Neogen BovineGGP50 BeadChip (SNPs = 43,938) calved at (controls) Illumina BovineHD 777,962). Cases imputed HD density BEAGLE (4.1). controls combined 62,819 haplotypes. Haplotype association tests run for three populations (heifers, cows, combined) chi-squared Bonferroni (BF) corrected significance p < 0.05. haplotype analyses 121, 47, 102 heifer, cow populations, respectively. Of these, 37 shared between heifer 39 combined, 76 across all analyses. Loci compared loci (BF 0.05) SNP by genome wide There 22 heifers, 10 21 population. use haplotypes, an additional 150 can be further characterized their value selecting are less prone late abortions.

Detection of Haplotypes Associated with Prenatal Death in Dairy Cattle and Identification of Deleterious Mutations in GART, SHBG and SLC37A2
The regular decrease of female fertility over time is a major concern in modern dairy cattle industry. Only half of this decrease is explained by indirect response to selection on milk production, suggesting the existence of other factors such as embryonic lethal genetic defects. Genomic regions harboring recessive deleterious mutations were detected in three dairy cattle breeds by identifying ...
متن کاملFactors associated with lameness in dairy cattle
An intervention trial by Hedges and others (2001) studying 1109 cow-years, in which every lame cow was examined and recorded by a veterinary surgeon, determined the four main causes of lameness to be sole ulcers, white line disease, digital dermatitis and interdigital necrobacillosis (‘foul’ or ‘foot rot’) (see graph on the right). Sole ulcers and white line disease are defects of the hoof and,...
متن کاملIdentification of T-2 toxin in moldy corn associated with a lethal toxicosis in dairy cattle.
Over a 5-month period during the winter of 1970-71, 20% of the lactating Holstein cows in a Wisconsin dairy herd died after prolonged ingestion of a diet containing 60% moldy corn infested with Fusarium tricinctum (2 x 10(5) propagules per g of moldy corn). Ethyl acetate extracts of the ground dried corn induced severe dermal reactions when applied to the skin of shaved 60-g albino rats and kil...
متن کاملExpression profile of genes associated with mastitis in dairy cattle
In order to characterize the expression of genes associated with immune response mechanisms to mastitis, we quantified the relative expression of the IL-2, IL-4, IL-6, IL-8, IL-10, IFN-γ and TNF- α genes in milk cells of healthy cows and cows with clinical mastitis. Total RNA was extracted from milk cells of six Black and White Holstein (BW) cows and six Gyr cows, including three animals with a...
